The YS IV name has been used on a few different titles and it's not clear which is the real one as each has their own story, characters and setting.
The first game to use the YS IV name was YS IV: Mask of the Sun which was released for the Super Famicom in 1993 with the PS2 version, dubbed Mask of the Sun - A New Theory being released in 2005. Mask of the Sun was released by Advance Communication and Tonkin House for the Famicom version and Arc System Works and Taito for the PS2 version.
In 1993, Falcom handed over development of their YS IV title to Hudson Soft who then released YS IV: The Dawn of Ys for the PC Engine Super CD-ROM².
In 2012, Falcom decided to do their own version of YS IV but instead of making it similar to it's two previous versions, it was completely remade from scratch into a new version called Memories of Celceta which was released in 2012 in Japan, 2013 in North America and 2014 in Europe. Because it was a new title that was based on YS IV, it is not considered to be related to Mask of the Sun and The Dawn of YS and because of this, it's name is simply YS: Memories of Celceta instead of YS IV: Memories of Celceta
